From critical dialogues to global decision-making forums, GWL Voices will bring its bold vision for financial justice and gender equality to Seville for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), taking place June 30–July 3, 2025. Over a week of official and parallel events, our Executive Director María Fernanda Espinosa, along with members Michelle Bachelet and Cristina Gallach, will represent GWL Voices in conversations aimed at transforming the global financial system—addressing issues such as debt justice, care economies, climate finance, and inclusive economic prosperity for all women and girls.

  • June, 27-28 – Feminist Forum:

GWL Voices will be participating at the Feminist Forum in Seville. The event will have a Feminist Dialogue to discuss macroeconomic challenges, debt justice, tax equity, trade, climate finance, and care economies, among others.

  • June 28-29 – Civil Society Forum:

GWL Voices will participate in the Civil Society Forum of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), held in Seville ahead of the official negotiations. Organized by the Civil Society FfD Mechanism, the Forum is open to all civil society actors and offers a space to follow the discussions, contribute to collective mobilization, and engage with global and local movements on financing for development.

  • June 29 – Global Citizen Now Sevilla:

GWL Voices will be participating in Global Citizen NOW: Sevilla, an action summit taking place on June 29, 2025, ahead of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4). Hosted in partnership with the Government of Spain, the event will convene global leaders to accelerate action on poverty eradication, climate justice, and financing reform. GWL Voices Executive Director María Fernanda Espinosa will be among the featured speakers.

  • June 30 – World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments at the FfD4

GWL Voices will be participating in the session Localizing Finance for Equality and Care on June 29, 2025, from 17:30 to 19:30 as part of the FfD4-related programming in Seville. The session will bring together local leaders and global advocates to discuss how feminist and care-centered approaches can be integrated into financing frameworks. GWL Voices Executive Director María Fernanda Espinosa will join the conversation alongside mayors and governors from across Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

  • July 1 – GWL Voices High-level Panel: Financing Women for a Fair Future: Alternatives to Retool Development and Reform Finance from a Women’s Rights Perspective

GWL Voices, in collaboration with the Government of Spain, the Association of Caribbean States, and Club de Madrid, is organizing the high-level panel “Financing Women for a Fair Future: Alternatives to Retool Development and Reform Finance from a Women’s Rights Perspective” on July 1, 2025, from 2:30 to 4:00 pm at Side Event 5 of FfD4. The session will explore how to place gender equality and women’s rights at the center of international financial reform. María Fernanda Espinosa, Executive Director of GWL Voices, will speak alongside Aminata Touré, Ana María Alonso Giganto, and Noemí Espinoza, with moderation by Cristina Gallach.

  • July 1 – Financing Development in an Era of Extreme Inequality

GWL Voices will be participating in the high-level panel “Financing Development in an Era of Extreme Inequality,” organized by Oxfam and Club de Madrid. The event will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm CEST at the Only YOU Hotel in Sevilla. This in-person panel will explore the challenges of crisis, debt, inequality, and shrinking development assistance, focusing on how to transform development finance and rethink multilateral cooperation. The discussion will be moderated by Cameron Abadi, Deputy Editor at Foreign Policy Magazine, and will feature political leaders and experts including H.E. Javiera Toro Cáceres, Minister of Social Development and Family of Chile; Dr. Aminata Touré, former Prime Minister of Senegal and member of the Club de Madrid Board; Dr. Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development; and Professor Daniela Gabor from SOAS University of London. The event will be held in English and followed by a cocktail reception.

  • July 2 – Financing an Equitable, Fair, Inclusive, and Resilient Future

Michelle Bachelet, member of GWL Voices, member of Club de Madrid, and former President of Chile, will be a panelist at the side event “Financing an Equitable, Fair, Inclusive, and Resilient Future” during the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Sevilla, June 30 – July 3, 2025. The event will focus on integrating climate resilience into global finance and bring together leaders from government, multilateral organizations, civil society, and the private sector to discuss innovative solutions for a just and sustainable financial system.

  • July 2 – Global Platform of Women Leaders in Finance

Cristina Gallach, Board Secretary of GWL Voices, will represent the organization at the side event of the Global Platform of Women Leaders in Finance. This initiative, launched during the High-Level Week of UNGA79, is led by the Brazilian Ministry of Finance and brings together prominent women in public and private finance to strengthen gender-responsive approaches to sustainable development. The session will address the urgent need for reliable, long-term financing to support a just and green energy transition in developing countries, especially in light of the climate crisis and growing setbacks in achieving the SDGs. With participants from national governments, international financial institutions, and academia, the event aims to amplify the leadership of women in shaping inclusive financial systems and reforming global financial architecture to ensure no woman is left behind.

  • July 2 – Strengthening Principles for Global Cooperation in the Financing for Development (FfD) IV Outcome Document

María Fernanda Espinosa, Executive Director of GWL Voices and former President of the UN General Assembly, will take part in the high-level side event “Strengthening Principles for Global Cooperation in the Financing for Development (FfD) IV Outcome Document” at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in Seville. Organized by the Impact Coalition on International Financial Architecture Reform and Financing for Development (IFA-FfD), and co-led by the Club de Madrid and the Global Public Investment Network, the event will convene governments, multilateral institutions, and civil society to promote a renewed set of principles for equitable and inclusive development cooperation. The discussion aims to shape the Seville Outcome Document and feed into upcoming global processes including South Africa’s G20 presidency, COP30 in Brazil, and the 2025 World Social Summit.
