GWL Voices Executive Director, Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa to Champion a Multilateral System that Works for All
As the world enters a decisive decade for peace and planetary survival, global leaders are gathering in Paris to forge new coalitions capable of meeting these extraordinary challenges. Among them, María Fernanda Espinosa, Executive Director of GWL Voices, will bring the vision and leadership of women at the highest levels of global governance to the center of the conversation.
From the reform of the United Nations to the financing of sustainable development and the urgency of climate action, Espinosa’s participation reflects the growing demand for institutions that are not only representative — but responsive.
On 29 October, she will take the stage during the session “Updating the UN at 80: From Mandates to Impact”. There, she will make the case for a renewal of the international system — one that measures success by tangible progress in people’s lives, and recognizes women not as beneficiaries of peace and security, but as architects of it.
Later that day, she will moderate the roundtable “Nature-Based Solutions: An Indispensable Tool for Mitigation & Adaptation”. The discussion will highlight how human and environmental vulnerabilities overlap — and how the knowledge and leadership of women can scale climate solutions rooted in justice and resilience.
On 30 October, she will join high-level voices in “The State of Development Finance in 2025: What Ways Forward?” to explore how financing must shift to match ambition — ensuring that countries and communities have the resources they need to thrive.
With every intervention, Ms. Espinosa will carry GWL Voices’ mission: to secure a multilateral system that recognizes the full leadership of women in shaping the future — and delivers the peace, dignity, and sustainability that communities around the world demand.
GWL Voices is proud to contribute to the Paris Peace Forum — and to global action grounded in equity, solidarity, and shared responsibility.
