Aligning Ambitions from FfD4 to COP30: Financing a Fair, Equitable and Inclusive Future

Share
As COP30 marks a decade since the Paris Agreement, the world faces a widening gap between climate ambition and implementation. Climate impacts are intensifying, fiscal pressures are rising, and the financing needed by developing countries now exceeds $1.3 trillion annually. Meanwhile, women and girls—especially in the Global South—remain severely underfunded, receiving only a fraction of adaptation and mitigation finance.
This high-level side event, co-hosted by GWL Voices, Club de Madrid and Instituto Igarapé, brings together global leaders to connect the outcomes of FfD4 with COP30 priorities, spotlighting gender-responsive and equitable financing as essential to delivering a fair and livable future.
Speakers include:
- Carlos Alvarado – Former President of Costa Rica; Member of Club de Madrid
- Patricia Espinosa – GWL Voices member, COP30 Special Envoy for Latin America & the Caribbean; and CEO of Onepoint5
- Laurence Tubiana – CEO of European Climate Foundation (TBC)
- Gene Leon – Executive Director of the Development Bank for Resilient Prosperity
- Nisreem Elsaim – Director of the Youth Alliance for Local Adaptation & Peace
- Giovanna Kuele – Lead of International Cooperation & COP30 Strategy at Igarapé Institute
