GWL Voices, together with the Institute of Global Politics Women’s Initiative at Columbia University; Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security; Vital Voices; and Wellesley College will convening to mark the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Conference that will highlight its transformative impact, feature young activists at the forefront of the women’s movement, and offer lessons from world leaders on how to move forward in a time of regression on gender equality.
Marking the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, this event will reflect on the progress made and the pressing challenges that remain for women’s rights worldwide. From the rise in technology-facilitated gender-based violence to the impact of climate change and democratic backsliding, panelists will discuss the threats to gender equality and explore strategies to protect and advance women’s rights.
