GWL Voices Dr. Flavia Bustreo at HRC61 Side Event on Women’s Political Leadership in Multilateralism

GWL Voices member, Dr. Flavia Bustreo in the high-level side event “Advancing Human Rights and Equality: Investing in Women’s Political Leadership in Multilateralism,” convened on the margins of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council. Bringing a strong women's and multilateral lens, Dr. Bustreo will contribute to the dialogue on dismantling structural barriers that continue to limit women’s full, equal, and meaningful participation in international decision-making spaces as shown in GWL Voices Women in Multilateralism Report 2026. The discussion will address persistent gender gaps in diplomacy and political leadership, the implementation of State obligations under international human rights law—including Article 8 of CEDAW—and the urgent need to translate global commitments into concrete action to achieve gender parity across multilateral institutions.
