GWL Voices is proud to present the high-level launch of its new Spotlight Report on Women in Global Climate and Environmental Leadership at London Climate Action Week 2026, followed by a panel discussion with women climate leaders from across generations, think-tanks, research institutes, and civil society.
Drawing on over 30 years of data across seven key multilateral climate and environmental institutions — including the three Rio Conventions — the report offers a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative analysis of women's leadership and participation in global climate governance. First-hand testimonies from women climate leaders and a review of institutional policies make this a uniquely powerful resource for advancing gender equality in climate decision-making.
Despite their central role in community resilience, adaptation, and environmental stewardship, women remain markedly underrepresented at the highest levels of climate decision-making. This event offers a timely and much-needed opportunity to examine how power is experienced and exercised by women in multilateral climate and environmental governance — and to chart a path toward a gender-equal multilateral system capable of tackling the climate and environmental crises both effectively and fairly.
The event is co-hosted by EmpoderaClima, IIED, Plataforma CIPÓ, Project Dandelion, and SHE Changes Climate. An in-person event at LCAW 2026, with a livestream option also available for those unable to attend.
