Amina Mohamed

Ambassador Dr. Amina C. Mohamed is a distinguished Kenyan diplomat and public servant with over 35 years of experience in government and international affairs. She has held several senior leadership roles, including Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade; Education, Science and Technology; and Sports, Culture and Heritage. She also served as Permanent Secretary for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs, and as Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of UNEP. Earlier in her career, she was Kenya’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, WTO, and the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva.
Amb. Mohamed holds a Master’s Degree in Law and honorary doctorates in Humane Letters and Letters. She currently serves on numerous international boards, including the International Olympic Committee’s Ethics Commission, the Commonwealth of Learning, Interpeace, ICIPE, and GWL Voices. She is also Chancellor of the International University of East Africa and the Commonwealth Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Sports, Enterprise, and Development.
Her work has been recognized globally, receiving prestigious honors such as Kenya’s Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart, Japan’s Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, Sudan’s Nilen Award, and Italy’s Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella della Solidarietà Italiana. She continues to champion integrity, ethics, and inclusion through the ALIVE Foundation and her global engagements.
